ABOUT THIS TOPIC: |
YOU SHOULD KNOW... |
INTERLEAGUE PLAY NOTICE: |
The Divisions of Interleague Play have been developed to facilitate play between leagues. Since many leagues operate is a slightly different fashion, there is a need for the District to implement "standard" divisions in order to insure age compatibility between leagues who wish to Interleague Play. Our goal is to maintain no more than a 4-year age spread in the T-Ball & Minor Divisions and to comply with Little League Rules & Regulations in all other divisions.
District Interleague Divisions do not apply to your local league for your intra-league play. Local leagues may divide their divisions within the Rules & Regulations of Little League. If your league wishes to participate in Interleague Play, you must divide your divisions to meet the criteria above.
|
T-BALL: |
BATTING-TEE OR COACH-PITCH ONLY - Little League has recently expanded the T-Ball Division to allow for coaches to pitch the ball to players as well. Therefore, this division is for balls batted from a batting-tee or coach-pitched ball only. No player-pitched balls are allowed in the T-Ball Division.
SPRITES - This division is for 4-year olds only, or 4 and 5 year olds only. A 4-year old may NOT play in a division with 6 year olds. An approved Special Waiver Request is required to register 4 year olds. If approved, 4 year olds may only play with other 4 year olds or 5 year olds. 4 year olds may not play with 6 year olds.
T-BALL - This is a traditional T-Ball division with the balls batted from a batting-tee only.
COACH-PITCH - This Interleague Division is for teams that utilize a coach-pitched ball ( or batting-tee) ALL season long. If there is ANY player-pitching during the season, you MUST charter and play the team in the Minor Coach-Pitch Division. By Little League Rule, 6-year olds MUST play in a Coach-Pitch only division. Therefore, 6 year olds MUST play in the T-Ball Coach-Pitch Division for Interleague Play.
|
MINORS: |
The Minor Division is a developmental division which will prepare players to one day advance to the Major Division. The focus for this division should be training and development of the basics of play and understanding of the game.
MINOR COACH-PITCH - This division is for teams that utilize both a coach-pitched ball and a player-pitched ball during the season. Some leagues play the first half of the season as coach-pitch and the second half as player-pitch. Others allow the players to throw a few pitches and then the coach steps-in when needed.
MINOR B - This is the division for player-pitch only, but a coach is allowed to step-in when needed. This division is for players that are above the coach-pitch level, but are not ready for the Minor A Division of competitive play.
MINOR A - This is a division for the most competitive play in the Minor Division. Player-pitch only. This is the first division that qualifies for the District Tournament of Champions. A 12-year old may only play in the Minor A Division with a Regulation V(a) Waiver.
|
MAJORS: |
This division is normally for players league age 10-11-12. 9 year olds are allowed by Little League Rule, but it is very unusual and is not encouraged by the District. By Little League Regulation 5(a), all 12 year old players must play in the Major Division, unless they obtain a Regulation V(a) Waiver. |
JUNIORS: |
12 year olds are allowed to participate in the Junior Division if their local league Board of Directors approves a motion to do so. Once a 12 year old plays in the Junior Division, they are NOT allowed to return to the Major Division for the remainder of the season (both Regular Season or All-Stars). |
RULES & REGULATIONS: |
All divisions must follow Little League Rules & Regulations, as well as the District Interleague Play Rules.
You may obtain a copy of the the District Interleague Play Rules on the Interleague homepage of this website ("Home" on the Interleague Menu above).
